Broccoletti in Piazza

Broccoletti in Piazza Broccoletti in Piazza

Who knew that something as simple as broccoli would have so many out and about on a beautiful spring-like day in Italy? But that’s exactly what happened this weekend. The tiny lake town of Anguillara Sabazia hosted its annual “Broccoletti in Piazza” event. The menu was basic yet so GOOD! Broccoletti, Italian sausage, pasta with broccoletti, bread, water and wine for 10 Euros a plate. All proceeds help local farmers sell their harvest. Plus proceeds from anyone who bought broccoletti to take home went to local charity. The event was a huge success thanks to all the volunteers whose passion and love to keep up with the demand was clearly shown with a smile.

To be honest, I couldn’t believe the turn out for such a simple dish. However, moments like these make me fall in love with Italy’s simplicity and respect for what the land produces all over again!
